Meeting Summary - 16th November 2007

The aim of today' meeting was to finalise all aspects of our idea and start the script/storyboard if possible. We were able to finalise our ending, decide on our actors and arrange a meeting to watch more opening clips. We will start our script/storyboard in the next meeting.

The initial endings we had included:

• The intoxicated guy sees the murderer and the camera zooms in on a significant part of the murderer (maybe a ring, tattoo - we are unsure about this). We would then cut to the druggie/drunk collapsing on the floor then a shot of the murderer's feet next to the druggie/drunk.
  

OR

• A shot of the druggie/drunk collapsing then we cut to a bloodied garment of the victim then we pan back to the druggie/drunk on the floor with the murderer's feet next to the druggie/drunk.

OR

• The intoxicated guy could witness the murder then the screen blurs and we hear a lot of noise and movement but we don't really know what' going on. Then a shot of the murderer and victim both dead then we pan to the druggie/drunk covered in blood and end there.

FINAL!!

The ending we decided on eventually was an adaptation of the first one. The druggie/drunk sees the murderer then we see a significant part of the murderer, maybe a zoom in or a simple close up. Then the intoxicated guy collapses and we then cut to a shot of the significant part of the murderer now on the druggie/drunk, who is slowly waking up. We would also include a shot of the victim.


We also decided that the film rating would be a 15 but our target audience is females and male in their late teens and early twenties.

We also had ideas about the kind of titles we wanted to include. We didn’t like the idea of black title screens breaking up the shots. We gained some inspiration from watching Seven which showed a clip first then they had a montage of different shots with the titles. We decided we wanted our thriller to include this style of opening, so that we didn’t have the opening shots broken up by black title screens.

As for dialogue within our clip we are looking into the idea of a voice over as narration of what is going on in the druggie/drunk guys head. For inspiration we are planning to watch Fear in Loathing and Mr Brooks which use this very effectively.

Our next meeting will be in our next media lesson on Monday 19th November. We are also going to watch as many opening sequences a we can on Tuesday 20th November after school we will hence have a meeting after.
